Horrendous stories about PhD debt
It is widely known that college and university cost a lot at the undergraduate or masters level, and most students end up in dept. But that is a necessary in today’s knowledge based economy and job market. However, to embark on a PhD without any funding is pure madness. Unless one is rich, doing a PhD without a stipend that covers most tuition fees and living expenses is a very bad decision. As we keep arguing here; doing a PhD in a STEM field is not necessary but could be OK in few exceptions, doing it in a non-STEM field is a big mistake, but doing in a non-STEM (especially humanities) with debt is just madness. Can’t come up with any better way to describe it!
